Mayfield Sound to Release New Single "Strangers on the Internet" — Out April 30th
Dublin, Ireland — Irish artist Mayfield Sound returns this April with a sharp, chaotic-in-all-the-right-ways new single, "Strangers on the Internet" arriving on streaming platforms April 30th, 2025.
Produced by Hugh O'Dwyer and featuring drums by Neil Dexter, the track is a sonic reflection of the digital era’s overstimulated headspace: frantic, scattered, and full of feeling. Lyrically, it takes aim at the way internet addiction has reshaped our relationships, focus, and sense of self.
“I wrote ‘Strangers On The Internet’ in 2019, before COVID. It initially started as an amusing number about dating apps, but then the Zoom era took off and the sentiment changed into something else entirely. All of this constant online activity, and the gamification of everything, forming relationships through screens, and forgetting what it feels like to just be present,” says Mayfield Sound singer Darragh McCauley.
“It’s not a lecture. It’s more like a sigh and a shrug... but with a bit of nervous energy.”
The song moves between moments of clarity and chaos, mirroring the fragmentation of our attention spans. It's catchy, clever, and just a little bit jittery - the sound of someone trying to stay grounded while their brain tabs keep multiplying.
"Strangers on the Internet" will be available on all major streaming platforms April 30th.
